MY MOST ANTICIPATED MOVIES OF 2019

4.08.2019

If you weren't previously aware, I'm an avid cinephile (nothing you need to google - I just love films!). I'm also a massive fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (aka 'The MCU'). I've loved all the films in the universe so far - but then I saw Captain Marvel on the 9th. Yep, it was a bit of an abomination, but that's a discussion for another day. It's definitely a movie that you could skip if you're a 'normie' or 'popcorn fan' - the kind of person that walks into an Odeon or IMAX theatre on a Friday evening and aks the cashier 'What's good to watch?'. If you would like to get up to date with all of the controversies concerning Captain Marvel, I'd recommend the Geeks & Gamers YouTube channel for no-nonsense, common sense perspectives on all things geeks and gamer. ANWAY... let's chat about some of my most highly anticipated films of the year, shall we?

Avengers: Endgame (April 25th 2019)

I, like - literally every Marvel megafan, am seriously stoked for Avengers: Endgame. The four trailers that we've been given have been the best that I've seen IN MY LIFE so far - but we literally haven't been exposed any substantial information to start theorising. We know about the characters that will be in the film, have ideas about other potential villains or opponents than Thanos, we've seen the red and white suits (AGHHH) and are all slowly but steadily preparing ourselves for the mega ugly cry we'll have if Cap and or Tony dies. I can't wait!

Spiderman: Far From Home (July 5th 2019)

I'm really excited for this film! The first trailer we got was really really fun and upbeat. Not to forget, Far From Home also introduces a new villain/opponent into the MCU - Mysterio. Like most MCU films, we have not been given any substantial information from the trailer and marketing so far. I really like that Nick Fury is in this one too. Tony Stark not being present in may hint to his potential death in Endgame - or this film could be set in the past. I think it will be a great summer blockbuster! I Can't wait!

X-Men: Dark Phoenix (June 7th 2019)

I've never been the larrrrrgest fan of the X-men, but I still love the movies. Dark Phoenix is one of those films that I'm kinda excited for and would like to watch, but my excitement for it is much less than that of Spiderman: Far From Home. I think it will be cool to see one of the most prominent X-men, Jean Grey, turn on the rest and how those others react - either by defeating her, or getting her back on their side.

Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (July 2019)

Very little information about the plot of Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood has been given to us in the first trailer and marketing so far. It's a drama/crime film starring Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie. I think the cast looks incredible and I'm very excited to see it in theatres.

Joker (October 3rd 2019)

The first (and pretty damn creepy) trailer for Joker came out a few days ago and it's got me excited to see it! I'm not a fan of the DCEU by any means - I'd say Wonder Woman is its best film by far. Joaquin Phoenix's portrayal of the Joker is definitely the closest to Heath Ledger's that we've seen so far.

Those are my most highly anticipated movies of 2019!
